Do Goodly Foods Do Goodly was founded by friends Richard Abbey and Scott Davis with a mission to create great tasting and ethically made plant-based foods. Within a year of trading, their vegan and gluten-free dips were listed in several UK wholesalers, national supermarkets and had won a Great Taste award.
In 2024 they were successfully accepted onto the Tesco accelerator scheme, which has ignited the development of new product ranges and they have started to export to the UAE.
Based in Carmarthenshire, Do Goodly are committed to sustainability by reducing food waste and using recyclable packaging. The company’s ethos, ‘do goodly, be goodly, taste goodly’, also extends to 10% of all profits going to the mental health charity Mind.

Initially, support was provided to reformulate their existing dip range to upscale, improve texture and flavour, and extend shelf-life. As a result of interest from retailers, Do Goodly looked to diversify their product offering and develop meal pots.
Research was undertaken by the team at Food Centre Wales to look at suitable flavours. This led to the development of three new ‘One Pot Meal’ products: Mac n Greens, Mushroom Carbonara, and Chip Shop Curry plus an additional Chip Shop Curry Sauce product.
The new meal pots and sauce launched in stores nationwide in May 2024. In addition to the new product development, technical support also included shelf-life analysis, nutritional calculations, labelling and process development.
Benefits of the support
The technical support provided through Project HELIX enabled the growth of new business and additional product listings across the UK and through Do Goodly’s export customers.
Food Centre Wales provided invaluable support for us right the way through the development process and enabled us to make some great tasting products whilst also ensuring we meet our Do Goodly health credentials criteria. This new range has also opened doors to several new customers we have been wanting to work with."
