A leading UK manufacturer of bakery goods, founded in 1983. Tregroes Bakery is the only UK based manufacturer of butter toffee waffles - or stroopwafels as they're commonly known in Holland. The bakery in situated in the idyllic Teifi valley in West Wales and it employs many of the local residents of Llandysul. The company was started by Kees Huysmans who moved to Wales from Holland in the early 1980s. The company has since grown and grown and now supplies waffles and savoury crackers to businesses all over the UK and for export too. The company is now in the process of being transferred to employee ownership, a move intended to ensure that the business will continue to grow and thrive long into the future.
